Vampire mating pictures
I'm still trying to figure out when it was that my female released her eggs from the previous time, but that's another story.
I actually managed to catch my vampires mating. I had a feeling that they might since the female was on the opposite side of the tank than she usually stays. It was an interesting experience to watch. After the male mounted the female, she carried him piggy-backed for a short distance before he jumped off and started swimming around the tank.
I've finally set up a tank for raising the young, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to to have at least some success.

Good lord.... I never said they were actually copulating. I do know that this piggy-backing is part of the mating ritual, and not the actual impregnation.
I was just trying to share something I've never seen with these shrimp. If you have, more power to you. I wish I could have seen more kinds of pictures, let alone seen any more information out there about these shrimp.

Re: Vampire mating pictures
Yes you did.
The mating was very fast with lots of shaking from the male
After, the female went into an upper corner of the tank and the eggs started to appear.

But anyway, with all the thousands of cherries that I had/have it is strange that the shrimp that I actually saw doing it were my wood shrimp.pacalan wrote:

You're being overly sensitive. People noted that although this is often part of the mating ritual, they weren't actually mating.
When you said "my vampires were mating", that could mislead other people into thinking that's how they actually mate. So people corrected / clarified for you.
They weren't rude about it, just straight to the point.
