Can someone tell me what this orange shrimp is??

Post by saganco »

It was sold to me as an "Orange Bee" - but I don't believe it. Markings aren't right and they don't reproduce fast like the bees should - in fact I've had them for several months and NO babies at all! They are an inch long or just a teeny tad over. In case someone asks, our PH is aroun 7.4-7.8. But mainly I want to know what you guys think they are!!

I have more pics here as well: http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z245 ... girl/Fish/

I sure hope one of you intellegent folks will know because it seems that I was sold something other than what I thought I was getting!

The common name " Orange Bee "

Is a generic name that a Exporter probably gave this Shrimp.

I have not heard of any Hobbyist breeding this Shrimp.

It looks to be what is commonly called simply an Orange Shrimp and if so then it needs brackish water to complete the life cycle of the young. I became interested in them early on and after doing some research and basically coming up with very little info changed my mind.

Thanks Bill,
I had a few of theses and wondered why they would develop saddles but no eggs, so brackish water...

Saganco, please try to search the forum first before wondering about a certain shrimp. It's part of the rules and I recommend that you read over the rules again. This shrimp was discussed several times here already and it's very easy to find those discussions if you just type in "orange shrimp" or something to that effect. If, after reading the relevant threads, you still have questions, you can always revive the thread and ask your question there instead of opening a "million" threads with basically the same topic.

Mustafa - if I had been able to find anything pertinent to my question and the pics that I presented - I wouldn't have posted my question. Problem is - I didn't find anything. Sorry if I missed something.

I hope you are joking...Are you telling me that you found absolutely *nothing* when you typed in "orange" and "shrimp" in the forum search? Why don't you type that into the search here *right now* and look at all the information that comes up. Someone (sstimac) actually just did that and found one of the relevant threads and posted his question there. Now that thread is on the front page.

It's one thing to say: "I didn't search thoroughly" and another entirely different thing to not search thoroughly and say: "I just could not find anything." Yes, it does require *some* work to find relevant information, but that's exactly what's required of everyone in this forum. I, and others, don't put all this time into all these topics over so many years so that people in the future just ignore them just because it requires a little time/work to find those topics (in this case it required all of 30 seconds to find the relevant threads). I'm sorry if I sound repetitive, but this is a last warning since you already got one earlier today. Please follow the rules and perform the searches. Topic closed.
