Hmmm, interesting. I'm always concerned that even using my small gravel vac in my 12 (US) gal RCS tank that I am gonna suck some up!

If you stick the sunction deep in the gravel, you get very few babies. You slowly churn the gravel leaving it in the gravel. I stop the flow and let the gravel drop every now & then. Let the siphon water settle and give the bucket a good look before you dump it.
