Malawa shrimp with white eggs

Post by nick11380 »

A while back I bought some Malawa shrimp from Mustafa. They've been doing great and breeding like crazy. Recently I found a couple Malawa shrimp carrying whiteish/yellow eggs. While all the others have been carrying black eggs.

Has anyone else had Malawa shrimp carrry whiteish/yellow eggs?

I havent had anything like that happen with my Malawa shrimp. Thus far everyone's eggs have been black....

Im curious though, when you witnessed the unusual colored eggs, were all the eggs the shrimp was carrying this color or just a handful?

Do your white egg carrying shrimp have unusual coloration, too?

The shrimp with the white eggs seem to be a lighter color and their strips aren't as dark as some of the other shrimp. But I don't think I would call their coloration unusual.

A few pictures of your normal shrimp and your unusual shrimp would help.

Well you need to find someplace on the web to store the photos....like Photobucket(Its free)...Then once you have the photos stored somewhere on the net you can just view the picture through your internet browser...Then if you right click on the picture and copy the location...usually a file like this (http://blahblahfakelinke.net/sgsgsg/reherhe/hsdhr.jpg)

Then paste the link here and highlight the link then push the Img button this should put the link between two Img brackets.....

Preview the post and it should show yoour post with the picture in it.

Is it just the lighting or do the white-egged Malawas look yellowish? There seems to be a difference in color from the normal variety.

The white egged Malawas do look a little yellowish. It is difficult to tell if the shrimp itself is yellowish or if they just appear yellowish because the eggs are so bright.
