Good evening,
I am new to this forum and to keeping shrimps:) I already found great information for setting up a supershrimp tank. I have a tank, rocks...
However, before making a mistake I have a question re water. If there is anyone who could help me, i would really appriciate. So, the issue is: I read on this website that you can take distilled water or RO water for setting up a tank. I would go for distilled water... However, I'm in France and it seems that supermarkets here are sell only water labelled "Demineralized water"... I did some reading on the topic and it seems that "Demineralized water" label stands for water produced via any of several possible methods: distillation (i.e., distilled water), ionization (DI water), reverse osmosis (RO water) and various other chemical procedures where various softeners (salts) are involved in production of demineralized water. Does anyone know if demineralized water via chemical process involving softeners is still OK for use in tank? Thank you very much for your help!
Distilled water vs demineralized water

Re: Distilled water vs demineralized water
All softned waters are suitable, the chemical differences between them are too smalls to do anything. BUT containers for "eau déminéralisée" for ironing are not made of food quality plastics and may be harmfull to drink or make live something in. Most petstores give RO water for free or at very low price and even sell suitable containers.
