Treating RO water

Post by SGTSHEW »

I treat my RO water for my betta tank to put back in some of the minerals. Does anyone treat their RO water for their opa tanks? I have just been using straight RO for top off.

Straight top. No nothing. Don’t need any of that.

Yup, all the minerals needed are in the salt mix you add when starting up the tank (plus a extra calcium source of course). After that its just replacing what is lost to evaporation, which is nothing but pure water.

The reason that may not work for betta tanks and such is because of water changes, which do remove various minerals from the tank. Ideally you never do water changes for supershrimp.
