Recent pictures of a snail out of the substrate & of the shrimp congregating on the tank wall (they are much less shy now)

Nice tank!
Re: My new setup (newbie to brackish tanks)
I'm in process of planning a second tank along with with some mangroves seeds. This will definitely create a deep sand bed - I'm wondering if any of you have experience with growing mangrove plants in a tank & / or Deep sand beds.

Update:
I ordered some more snails and a moss ball from this site. Originally I was going to add the snails to the new tank, but since I don't have it anywhere near cycled yet they went into my existing tank. I'm thinking I'm just going to grow the mangroves on their own and not combine them with the shrimp as I see too many possible issues arising. Back to the drawing board for tank number 2.
My main tank probably has hundreds of shrimp now as the shrimp have been reproducing non stop. The new snails and moss ball are doing well, though the snails went right into the sand.

Picture of the entire tank. The Shrimp and snails have done a remarkable job of consuming almost all the algae.
Still haven't fed them anything at all!

I fed the shrimp for the 1st time ever. It was a very small amount (!) of powdered spirulina which I sprinkled over the water's surface. Lots of shrimp came up to the surface to feed!
Re: My new setup (newbie to brackish tanks)
They love that stuff.
Re: My new setup (newbie to brackish tanks)
Thank you!
Attached are a couple of more recent pictures, a feeding and typical view of the tank.
I've noticed some small snails now so they are also reproducing too!

Does anyone know what the flake like things are in the tank? There are some in the top right of the upright picture above.
Re: My new setup (newbie to brackish tanks)
I'm not sure what exactly you mean, but it's probably just surface film that broke off from the surface into what looks like flakes. Is it soft? Do you have a better picture?
