Random Shrimp Loss?

Post by Kval1015 »

I have a new 2 gallon set-up for shrimp on my desk.
I washed all the items and waited until there was biofilm at the top.
I check for ammonia and other toxins prior to adding the shrimp.

Everything looked good the first few days - shrimp were swimming and moving about a lot.

Then the other day I found one dead at the bottom.
And now today a second one.
Everyone else is still chomping away and their color has mostly returned.

I'm not sure what to do or what the problem could be.
They aren't hiding or appear to be in any sort of distress.

Could this just be two random flukes?
I have had these shrimp for 5 years.
They've been in multiple containers - moved from NY --> MI with us.

HELP!! I don't want to lose the ones that are left!

This reply is a little late, but you'd have to give us a detailed description of your setup...i.e. which substrate used, which salt, what type of decoration, rocks...how much you feed etc.. Obviously, something in the tank is killing the shrimp as 5 year old Supershrimp are still "toddlers" in terms of age (reproducing "toddlers" in this case... :D ).
