First Time Shrimping
I recently started my shrimp tanks. I am really enjoying watching them. Posting pictures to see if anyone has any advice to improve them.

Is that a real sea fan? If so, I would remove it. Over time they can break down and become toxic.

It is not a real sea fan. It’s silicone. I wanted real driftwood or sea fan but after reading this forum decided to go with this instead. The shrimp seem to really like spending time on it.
Re: First Time Shrimping
They look nice! Maybe add a small pile of stones or shells to the top one so the shrimp have more nooks and crannies to hang out in (or you can break up the big lava rock into a few pieces and stack them). I know that mine often like to get away from the direct light.
Re: First Time Shrimping
Looks good to me! Any update on this tank?
Re: First Time Shrimping
The tanks are doing great. I haven’t had any babies yet but hopefully will soon.
Re: First Time Shrimping
Great to hear! It can take a few months before you see berried females. How are the plants doing? Any appreciable growth?
Re: First Time Shrimping
One tank has a lot of plant growth, but the other has very little plant growth. The tank with the most growth is in front of a window and also has a LED light 12 hrs a day. The other tank is in the middle of the house and has a LED light that only has an 8 hour timer.
Re: First Time Shrimping
Yes, makes sense that light would accelerate growth. Did the mossball grow in diameter too?
Re: First Time Shrimping
It hasn’t grown much. It is in the tank with less growth. I am in the process of moving and I plan to put both tanks where they can get natural light.

Got it. Sounds good!
