effect of salt on shrimp and cray

Post by zapisto »

I have a good amount of coral gravel coming from a salt water tank .
i soak it for a week with water change every day.
but really dont know ifall the salt gone.
i want to use it mix with some gravel to raise my PH /GH /Kh in a particular tank.
if all the salt did not go , am i in trouble if i put shimp or crayfish in this tank ?

thanks

Should not be a problem for most shrimp & crays. I know it won't bother the cherries or cajuns. I did an experiment with 2 tsp/gallon sea salt for a couple of months with no issues.

It probably depends on the species of shrimp/cray too.

But in the very minute quantities that might be left in the coral sand, I think you will be fine either way.

Let us know how it goes.
