I've got some half blue females I'm breeding to pure blue males to improve the genetics and hatch size.
The latest mom is releasing her babies right now. She's been dropping them over the last couple of days. The 1st pic was taken yesterday, the 2nd this morning. The 3rd is a blowup of #2.

I sure wish I knew how to get the forum to stop cropping my pictures.

The pictures still look great! When the offspring get older you can let us know the effects of the breeding on the color of the young .

Thanks again!

She is a full adult about 4.5". Yes about 1/2 are blues. I'll keep you all posted.

I'd say close to 200 babies.

I'm telling you, Jack, it's not the forum...it's your computer/browser settings. The pictures don't look cut off or anything at all. The forum is set to display images that are too large at 800x600 pixel resolution and that's the resolution at which your pictures are displaying. Either way, nice babies. Any pictures of the blue male? Does he change color sometimes after molting or does he stay blue?

The male is no longer with us, unfortunately. He fell victim to a bad molt. He was universally blue all the time. I have a few of his brothers though. Next time I'm shooting pictures I'll get one of him.

Do female clarkii need any special treatment post-mating to encourage laying of eggs(chilling etc.) how long does it take after they mate? Do they only produce one batch of eggs per molt?
