Hi everyone,
I have an interesting problem.
I have Crystal reds, bee and tiger shrimp in tanks all side by side.
The tanks are identical in everyway, same plants, filter, gravel and temp.
The crystal reds have been breedling like crazy,
The brees are breeding buy the young are dieing after a few days.
The tigers have dies off.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
TKD

Re: Crystal reds, bee and tiger shrimp "problem"
Different number of shrimp = different amounts of food. Too much food and resulting water quality issues are the main problems in tanks with small shrimp populations. Any number of external factors that can influence the flora and fauna and water parameters in a tank can be responsible for different results with your shrimp tanks, even if the setup is the same/similar.
Re: Crystal reds, bee and tiger shrimp "problem"
I vary the amount of food that I give them depending on how many shrimp are there.
I had the same problem with green shrimp as well, I'm doen to three addults but have 5 babies now.
I have added a bit of crushed coral so we will se if that makes a difference in the long term.

TKD,
Do a pH, gH, and tds check on all the tanks.
I suspect that they will be vastly different despite their identical conditions.

I won't be able to compare properly now as I added a bit of crushed coral to each tank to see if would work.
The greens are breeding with it noe and no change with the bees and bumblem bees,

Tigers need soft water, so that might be their problem.
Re: Crystal reds, bee and tiger shrimp "problem"
They were in the same water, solft, as the crystals and they all died... two sets. I'm now tring to see if adding a bit of calcium in the water will help.
I will be getting a new group in a few weeks.
