i just bought 20 cherry shrimp on aquabid and was wondering if i put those 20 cherry shrimp in a glass bowl without any filter or plant (just water, no fish) that they will breed by themselves. it's just a half gallon bowl so i was thinking i could make those 20 cherry shrimp become 100 real fast by just putting in flake food!!! am i right or just naive? thanks!

I agree they are unlikely to survive, adding 20 cherry shrimp to a bowl will not work. To house that many shrimp you'll need a bigger tank that has cycled with substrate and plants to allow them to survive let alone breed.

I bought a colony of bumble bee shrimp off a guy and he had them in two bowls around 1 gal each.
They were breading like crazy with no filter or heater or tank light.
Me, I have them in a 20 Gal tank, filter, heater, tank light and proper conditions and do you think I can get them to breed? NO
