Has anyone seen this before?

Got my new shrimp today (yay!). But noticed one shrimp has this weird 1/4 - 1/2 inch or so "string" hanging from his backside. They seem to break off and then he gets another. I'm inclined to think it's, ahem, fish poop... But I've never seen it "come out" this way. Has anyone seen this before?
