Lowering pH

I can't remember. Is a higher pH acidic or basic? I know 7.0 is neutral.

Also, how would one lower pH in a 10g tank from 8.0 to 7.0? I'm thinking of doing this.

Next, do sea shells (from craft store) lower or raise pH? Or perhaps have no effect? I have 1 shell in my 10g tank.

Anything lower than 7.0 is acidic & higher is a base. Most crays actually prefer PH in 7.5-8.5 range. Anything below 7.0 is getting dangerous to them.
