Thanks for the journal! Great idea...I wish I thought of that. A couple of thoughts, and I might be way off-base here: 1. I agree on the "no-boil" point. Any beastie that gets in your tank is sure to be murdered by the high ammonia. 2. Is coral really a good idea? In your intro post, you s...

I'm new to shrimp, but vet for fish. The best advice I ever got from my LFS (REAL good guys) was "don't fight your water." Your low Ph isn't too bad, but those drops can lead to a big crash with soft, acidic water. Buffer your water with gravel, etc. but I would recommend staying away from...

I was thinking about raising some Caridina cf. babaulti and I wanted to find out a little more about 'em. Has anyone had success raising them? Are they an overly sensitive shrimp, or are they a little more hardy than normal? I was thinking of raising them with cherries - they seem to like similar co...

Thanks for the responses... I've had no luck finding the green shrimp for sale, but I'm still trying to find a species out there that could thrive in hard water. I've heard conflicting reports about the "Hong Kong Bumblebee." This site (which I trust) notes that this is a soft water/low ph...

What goes with Cherries

Hi Everyone, I'm new to shrimps, and have a quick question. I will have a number of cherries in a 30g and wanted to put two species in the tank. I thought the green shrimp would go nicely, but no luck in finding them. What other species would co-exist with cherries without getting frisky with them? ...
