my cherries refuse everything i try to feed them, including softened spinach, hikari algae, multiple types of flake food, softened green pea, & marineland bottom feeder tablets. after a few hours i remove the food since i'm already dealing with enough bga and nematodes, and spoiling food would ...

if that's the case, my shrimp must be on a hunger strike. they haven't touched the stuff, and seem to be preferring a fungus that is growing on my driftwood. the only reason i'm interested in using a med. to get rid of it is that it's smothering my christmas moss, which i'm quite fond of. i guess i ...

Cyanobacteria (BGA), antibiotics, and cherry shrimp

the consensus so far (forums and websites)is that maracyn and similar antibiotics are shrimp safe if dosed appropriately. i have some cyanobacteria that is getting out of control, and i will probably try this method as long as no one knows or has read of side effects on shrimp.

Is this correct? Is the natural sex ratio in shrimp 1:1?

In a species that is not pair-bond-forming and shows no parental care, it is not uncommon for the ratio to be skewed towards females. Further, in may species, enviornment factors can have a great effect on the ratio of males to females ...

your chances of getting a "male or female" out of 3 shrimp is 100%

:)

each shrimp has a 50/50 chance of being male, and the same for female... it's like tossing a coin... trying to predict the sex with percentages is pretty much useless at such a small number. it's quite possible that you have 3 ...
