Palaemonetes cummingi
The Squirrel Chimney cave shrimp. Apparently, this is a species of Palaemonetes only found in a single 100 ft deep sinkhole, known as the "Squirrel Chimney". It is located in Florida. According to the text, it has no pigmentation, including the eyes. It also has smaller eyes than other Pal...

Re: lysmata debelius
Hey Zapisto, I have never kept L. debelius although through my research I have amassed a large ammount of journals. Many of these journals detail L. debelius . The larvae are not only tricky to keep alive but they have a larval duration of up to nearly 6 months! When I'm no longer a poor college stu...

What a good topic! As coincidence would have it, the subject of my argumentation paper at my college English class, happens to be this. The importance of learning to aquaculture our aquarium critters, and stop wild collection. The problem is, I can't seem to find any good references. I honestly don'...

Re: Scud Culture
These guys seem to be super easy to breed and appear to be a good live food source for puffers. I'm definitely interested in learning to culture them. :) I've got a bunch of these bad-boys in my SW tanks, though they are not easy to capture, since they are in the LR. How did you go about capturing ...

This will be the last update. Repeated 'everything is going well' posts won't be too interesting. Everything is going well. :-D I picked up some shrimp that look to be Palaemonetes sp. . They were mistakenly shipped to my LFS instead of Amanos. They look similar to P.paludosis , and maybe that is wh...

Check your navigation maps. These mysid like boat docks on rocky shore lines. I'll definitely check for a likely location. My neighbors basically live on their boat all summer - I'll check with them too, to see if they have seen them. I could take friends along too...Though they may think it strang...

Make it a point to only buy juvies. They make the transition much better. I definitely agree here. Once in a while I get tempted to buy the biggest one, and I usually don't give in. I recently set up a tank for a pair of Peppermint shrimp, species Lysmata boggessi . I bought the absolute tiniest sp...

As of last Saturday night, an Amano is berried. We will see if I can get the rearing tank up in time. The female is not very healthy - I took a chance with her, and I couldn't see it in the LFS lighting, but she might be slightly milky colored...Not a good sign. I trying to come up with ways to coll...
