Yes with crayfish eggs you can use malacite green. The crayfish eggs were hatched in an egg tumbler!! A jar with an airstone will NOT work. They need new freshwater over them constantly. interesting -- I don't know what an "egg tumbler" looks like -- do you have a link to some information...

I have heard random reports of people hatching crayfish eggs that detached -- it definately couldn't hurt to try. You say it's been a few days, but as long as there is no trace of fungus there could possibly be a chance. I would put the eggs in a jar of tankwater with an airstone set to bubble low.....

Thanks Amanda, I have been feeding them flakes, algae wafers, spinach and bloodworms. I usually give them bloodworms every two or three days because they like those the best. I think I have seen some fertilized eggs in with the unfertilized ones, but there are only a few and they seem to drop them....

not the best quality photo, but the best one I could get after several tries -- here's a few of the babies on top of the spongefilter:

Green Shrimp

Just haven't heard much about green shrimp lately -- anyone have a successful breeding program? I'd love to see some photos.

Would you mind describing the setup you use to house and breed these? Tank size, other floura and fauna, what size tanks are needed for growout. Thanks Hi gnatster, I have two pair in a 10 gallon tank with a spongefilter, a few small turbo seashells for them to hide in, some java moss and najas gra...

More info on N. Palmata?

I've been trying to find out more information on this shrimp -- has anyone yet bred them? Do the young show any of the orange/red coloration...all the information I have found so far speculates that the color will not be passed on to the young however I haven't seen any proof of this...and then are ...

to raise the ph you can add a small amount of baking soda -- don't add it directly to the tank, just to the waterchange water. If you have any fish in the same tank this could stress them so do small water changes to begin with to more slowly raise the ph. I also add a drop or two of iodine every we...

I woke up this morning and my other female has a clutch now -- the last clutch was about 15 to 18 eggs...this one looks to be more, like 30 maybe. I noticed in Gerald's article he estimates about 50 eggs are in a clutch -- does anyone else get that many? I bred C. shufeldtii before too and never got...

Janis wrote:Hi Craig,

The crays show up on Aquabid occasionally and shipping to Canada is possible if you're willing to pay for it, but I just went across the border and picked them up over there.

I just got mine recently so haven't had any babies yet, hopefully soon!

How many pairs do you have?
