I've never seen cherries kill a snail... in fact, my cherry tank has rediculous numbers of pond snails in it, the only thing that seems to control the population in there is food supply. If it's dead they'll eat it though. I saw a ghost shrimp eating pond snail eggs once. I think they prefer to let ...

I have personally watched them fishing small pond shells out of their shells. I have also added them to several tanks that were getting over-run, and the addition of ghost shrimp quite effectively stemmed the tide. It never eliminated them, but there were a lot fewer and the population stopped growi...

Relative sensitivity of invertebrates
I have been trying to compose a list, as detailed as possible, for my own reference and thought it might be useful to everyone (and could certainly become more complete with help!) Least to most sensitive: physid ramshorns and pond snails asolene spixi (maybe marisas too?) haustrom redclaw macros am...

Lichen problem
So, I just got some rocks from the LFS for my redclaw and snail tank... but when I washed them off I found that they have a bunch of lichen on them. Mostly orange, but some black, blue-green, and even a little pink. The question is, do I have to get it off before I use the rocks? Or is it ok...

I would think the shrimp would be fine with the marisas... I keep my cherries with spixis, and both species are thriving and reproducing like mad crazy. I acually didn't have much success with the cherries until I moved the spixis in there, although I'm sure it's coincidental. Marisas and spixis are...

Put them in a net near the filter outflow, so they stay put and nothing eats them. They may have been dropped because they were infertile though, so there are no guarantees, but it is worth a shot. On another note, it is possible she is fanning because she still has some eggs on her, just way up hig...
