I've had a total of 2 crayfish crawl clean out of my tank and then die before I found them. It might depend on species and even the individual.

The one I tossed in was a freshwater feeder, though I noticed no red markings on it like I see on the ones in my turtle tank.RN

In that case, without any acclimation (which probably would not have been successful), the shrimp will quickly die (from salinity shock if not predation), if it has not ...

Yeah. I love my peppermint shrimp and if I can find one, wouldn't mind a skunk cleaner shrimp.

If I could get some of the marine ones, that'd be awesome. While I love shrimp as pets, I'm sure the clownfish, goby and peppermint shrimp would love to eat the larvae. The one I tossed in was a freshwater feeder, though I noticed no red markings on it like I see on the ones in my turtle tank.

Ghost shrimp in saltwater

I have a ghost shrimp in my saltwater tank. I've read how they require salt or brackish water for reproducing. If there was more than one, would it possibly reproduce in the tank?

I've kept 5 fiddler crabs in my big tank along with tons of shrimp. The crabs never bother the shrimp, though the shrimp try to snatch bits of food from the crabs. Real fiddler crabs (males) don't use their large claw as a weapon. At worst, they'll try to wave or bat away stuff with it, never jab or ...

I've set up the big tank and removed the brick. Of the 6 living Ghost shrimp, I've moved 3 over to the big tank. I haven't found the others at all, and assume they died and were eaten, but am giving it a day or so for them to come out. I don't know what happened but there are no shells inside and no ...

Last night, the biggest few shrimp ran the female fiddler crab out of the burrow she had made in the tank and ALL the shrimp are in there now. They come out briefly, grab a HUGE load of food, then drag it into the burrow. Any idea what's going on?

Odd. My ghosts have never done this. Can you snap ...

I've looked again and I'm fairly sure there are 6-10 eggs, fairly big, greenish. Last night, the biggest few shrimp ran the female fiddler crab out of the burrow she had made in the tank and ALL the shrimp are in there now. They come out briefly, grab a HUGE load of food, then drag it into the ...

Thanks for the info. If all else fails, I could always start searching bodies of freshwater nearby for some truly freshwater shrimp, and TRY to raise some that way. Once I get my camera working and have the big tank set up, I'll be sure to get and post pics of it all.

Brandon, trust me...there are Palaemonetes kadiakensis and P. paludosus in Oklahoma. They can take the cold without problems.

Read here (pdf document) for information on where (which rivers, creeks) they occur. This list is not exhaustive and I am sure there are more drainages where they live. If ...

The big (50 gallon) tank will not be for breeding of shrimp. I doubt the young shrimp would survive turtles, guppies and crabs. The turtles try, every now and then, to catch the shrimp, but they have yet to succeed. The only shrimp they have caught were already dead.

If I got a bigger, opaque ...

Breeding Ghost Shrimp

I've watched the forums a little and know there are many types of shrimp called Ghost Shrimp. The ones I have have lived in my freshwater tank without problem for quite some time now. I have 6. They do an excellent job cleaning the tank and are fascinating to watch.

What I want to know is what kind ...
