Sounds exciting, I wish I had room for a big show tank... someday I says to myself, someday. :smt106

My only concern is the black ghost knife fish. They are nocturnal predators, when you're watching during the day everything will seem fine, but once the lights go off they will start feasting on ...

my 90g setup and diy wet/dry.

I just got water in my 90g megaflow and diy wet/dry today, so far its seems to be working good.

This was a reef setup, I downsized my reef and moved it into a new smaller tank. The 30g tank I setup as a sump for the reef tank has now been converted to a wet/dry and sump for the freshwater. I also ...

sounds good, I did put a couple bags of flourite under the 3 bags of moon sand I put in the tank, hoping the flourite helps with the plants.

Sorry, dooxOO, but you still need to tell us what species of shrimp, what species of crayfish, and at least the pH of your city tap water before any of us can give you an answer worth reading.

You might want to start with reading some of the shrimp variety descriptions here and then search for ...

lighting questions.

Couple questions..

I just moved my 90g megaflow reef to another tank and am setting up the 90g now as a freshwater. This tank is going to have live plants, lots of inverts and some fish. I am going to use my 2 x 250 watt hqi metal halide setup with this tank. (I was originally going to sell the mh ...

its going to be a mix of shrimp, small crays and plants. I am just wondering what water is best to use overal, ro/di or out of the tap and add treatment. our tap is city water.

what water to use, ro/di or tap..

What water should I use? I can use ro/di and add kent r/o right to that, or should I just use tap and add start right or something like that to it? My tap water reads 160 tds.

KH value in dKH is 7.9
Alkalinity in meq/L is 2.8

not sure if that is hard or soft or what, anyone?

substrate

Hey all, I am setting up a 90g tank, I plan to keep live plants and inverts. I was wondering if sand is a better substrate then gravel. As of now I have 3 15 pound bags of flourite and 75 pounds of gravel to put over the flourite. Should I switch the gravel out for sand? If so any recommendations?

ro/di unit is well worth it imo, I do not have a fresh water tank up yet (considering doing an invert/planted tank) but I do have a saltwater reef tank, I use ro/di for top offs and water changes. You will always know your water is clean and no surprises with a good ro/di unit. [commercial link ...
