As far as I know, the only way to get rid of the snails is to physically remove them. To my best knowledge, any predator placed in the tank to remove snails will also feast on your shrimp as well.

Hi Mustafa,

I will try and take a pic tonight and email it to you if that is OK? I am still new at this and I thank you and everyone in this forum for the great advice and well intentioned corrections of my limited knowledge.

I noticed this morning that some of my baby crays from the last hatch are showing the blue trait. At first I thought it might have been the lighting, but I moved the duckweed out of the way, and sure enough, they still showed as being light blue in color. By my estimate, it was about 5% of the hatch...

You are right, Mustafa, I should have been more specific as to comparison rather than actual measurements. I am still new to this, but the eggs are very similar in size to that of RCS if I can use that as a sample since it seems that these are the shrimp that most newbies as myself seem to start with.

The eggs are similar in size to other caridina shrimp species at approximately 1mm in size or smaller. The color of the eggs that I have seen so far range from a light green to a bright yellow.

Orange shrimp update

Since I first posted about the orange shrimp, I thought I would update on the status of them to date. In total, I purchased a total of 36 shrimp. Although I didn't have mass moltings due to stress, I did lose 3 individuals. Out of the 33 remaining, I have 5 males and 28 females. I woke up this morni...

Size of breeding Dwarf Cajuns(cambarellus shufeldtii)?

I have been keeping Dwarf Cajuns for about 3 months now with one tank housing RCS and the mottled(spotted) version of the dwarf cray and another tank with the striped version. I started with 3 pair of each and now have literally a couple hundred of each kind. The hatchlings from the first generation...

Orange Shrimp post update

The shrimp that I received seem exactly like the ones being offered on a bid sight by someone in Germany and he calls them caridina sp. orange. But time will tell if these are truly the same ones.

Hi Mustafa, The shrimp are more uniformly orange similar to the coloring of yellow shrimp. Some have red striations on the carapace. The males are a paler orange and are similar to the paler version of the male RCS. The only reason I took them was that they did not have that "artificial" l...

New Orange shrimp purchase

Last night I purchased a dozen orange colored shrimp(similar in appearance to RCS) from my LFS and they were labled Orange Bee Shrimp. I am wondering if this is a new color morph or if they are artificially colored in some way like the blue shrimp. They saved these shrimp for me and gave them to me ...

My LFS here also had these labled as blue amano shrimps. As they are just now getting into fresh water invertebrates, they had these in the same tank as red cherries until I let him know that they were the same species and will hybridize if left in the same tank. To his credit, he seperated them int...
