I had the same thing happen when I added an Indian Almond leaf to my Red Cherry tank, frantic activity. After soaking the tannins out for about 2 weeks in treated water I put it back and all was well. I would soak the driftwood for a while in clean treated water then try to put it back, like Badflas...

Real nice pictures! Good color and detail. Did you crop them? I like the cray too. You might want to clean the glass inside an out before shooting. Hate to ruin that perfect shot with water spots!

That's right, the shrimp tank has NO fish. There are some reds and ghost in the Discus tank. They seem to get along well. The Zebra Danios are more aggressive toward the shrimp, they will soon be another tank as I am setting up another 55 gallon.

Just a quick update. The population is still growing fast with no sigh of slowdown. I'm looking for a 20- 30 gallon, 15 just isn't enough anymore. The juveniles love hanging out on the filter. the newly hatched hid in the gravel and rocks. I watched one of the cherrie males us a piece of duck weed l...

Thanks Badflash., That probably explains it. They left of salt water!
Got ya about the leaves, they sure do love Indian Almond leaves(pre-soaking all the tannins out before adding to the tank)

Thanks for the responses. It is a delicate balance we walk. The ghost where the only reason I was feeding the tank at all. Just enough to be consumed in a 5 minutes. There's enough algae now so no more vegies. The planaria have come from somewhere, maybe I got a little heavy handed a few weeks ago w...

I have Cherries and Ghost together. The Cherries have been breeding like crazy, ghost too. Seems like more Cherries make it than Ghost though.

That's my point, I know something is wrong with them. Could it be because they are eating the planaria?
Guess I didn't explain myself very well.

Could planaria be toxic to Ghost shrimp?

I'm currently dealing with a small outbreak of white planaria in my Red cherries and Ghost shrimp tank. This was quite a surprise as I have been feeding very sparingly. After searching through old post here I wasn't to alarmed by it. I did a through gravel vac, which doesn't take much as I have a mi...

Thanks Larry, Getting a culture going makes a lot of sense, I already have enough mouths to feed and tanks to keep up. I looked into ordering petri-dish Tetasrlimis algae cultures and Micro-algae-grow from Florida Aqua Farms. Maybe a $25 U.S. investment, I'm a little hesitant to follow through. You ...

I wanted to bump this back up, got a questions about keeping a brine shrimp tank going. I haven't been successful in culturing any SW algae. I just got a 250g bag of spirulina micro algae powder. I read somewhere.(got serious hard-drive overload from all the reading I've been doing.. think I need a ...

Thanks Mustafa.
So far it's been an easy tank to maintain with a weekly 25% water change and very light feeding. The PH seems to hang at 7.4 with very little chemicals. Easier than the discus tank!
Had another hatch last night, looks like little fleas bouncing around the tank.
