One thing

I forgot to mention, however, the biggest issue I have with the Kordon is the large size. about 4 inch diameter opening. This means if you are using it in a small tank, you may want employ a herding technique. I do wish they had a smaller version for smaller tanks and fish.

Next time

In the future you might consider getting or making a device like the Kordon Fish Catcher http://www.kordon.com/kordon/fish_catcher/index.htm. I had a similar problem with a Siamese Algae Eater that the Kordon rectified in a matter of a few minutes. Fish (and other animals) are much less threatened b...

Hmm, I'll keep watching. Maybe I'll setup a security camera to catch them when I'm not around :smt108 I do recall seeing some Ghosts picking at the remains of an adult snail that my Dwarf Puffer had recently assassinated. And on another occasion I've seen a couple of my Cherry's picking at a snail i...

geofied- What makes you think that fungus or bacteria can only be caught from fish or other shrimp? Either can be airborn, or transferred in any number of other ways. It could also have been latent in the shrimp all along. Fact is we know next to nothing about this shrimp other than the picture. Fa...

didan, I sent the picture to my brother, who happens to be a Marine Biologist (specialty Saltwater shrimp) living in Japan, and asked him if he had any contacts that might be able to ID your very cool looking shrimp. This is what one of his colleagues sent back: "Attached is probably Palaemon p...

Plecos are safe too, but some of them get extremely large. Are you sure corys are safe? I thought they were "bottom feeding omnivores," and would eat a shrimp if they could catch it. If a baby shrimp (or adult for that matter) is dense enough, and slow enough to be caught on the bottom by...

Ghost shrimp eat tiny snails like crazy though. I agree that it's worth watching, but you do have a controller in there as it were, so I don't think it's worth worrying about. Can you confirm this? In my Ghost shrimp only tank the snails are breeding apparently unhindered. I've certainly never seen...

I've been warned by a trusted Cherry shrimp breeder that Guppies will hunt Cherry fry with a passion. I cannot confirm this, but I'm not taking my chances at this point. The only fish I would feel very comfortable putting with shrimp that you plan to breed would be Corydoras, and Otocinclus (off the...

Thhttp://www.petshrimp.com/discussions/posting.php?mode=smilies View more Emoticonse ones I've seen this on had their meat go white, not the shells. What is happening with yours may be some sort of external fungus or bacteria. j No offense badflash, but that is highly improbable. Unless you are sug...

Great story. I think putting them in the filter (an extra filter, right?) was a novel approach, great thinking.

Do you mean they actually emerge from the water? In all my tanks that have Cherrys they inhabit every area, substrate, middle, top. My tanks are all variously planted, but I use floating plants, mostly Salvinia, which the shrimp enjoy hanging upside down on picking away. I have certainly never seen ...

First post here, wanted to chime in on the "milky" ghosts. I've been observing this with most of my ghost shrimp as well, and it has typically warned of the eventual demise of the shrimp. I disagree with Badflash on the color change being internal, all of the ghost shrimp I have observed w...
