They are in with just the female right now. In will be moving the female back in with her male in a few days and let the babies grow out on their own.

Re: Red Claw Macro Breeding Diary
Well after 36 days since berrying, mom is out and I counted 6 babies before my eyes hurt to much. They are so tiny and so colourless they are hard to spot. I will try to get pics but I still haven't got that macro lens yet. Come on Santa!!

36 days in and I Ssill haven't seen babies yet. Female haas been hiding for weeks now. I lifted up her log last week and she was fine and still berried. I hope she is not just sitting under there eating babies as they hatch.LOL. Here's a couple of pics of dad. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j6/Pu...

Re: Hydra
Acting on your own observation is often the way to go. I can't imagine the hydras I have every reaching any shrimp they are so tiny how big where the ones you saw sting the shrimp.

Re: Sick Amano's,Ninja, and Cherry Crystal's
Changing to sand is not a great idea it will show algae way faster than gravel. Algae grows when there is to much nitrates and light that is not being used up by plants. Often a sign of over feeding or under maintaining. If you want live plants you need at least 2watts per gallon of light and you ha...

Re: Hydra
Hear hear Mustafa> I was just about to say the same thing. I can not imagine that the hydra pose a significant threat to any of the desired inhabitants in a tank. Although the discussion of these additives has been interesting I believe avoiding the addition of chemicals of any kind is highly desira...

Re: Sick Amano's,Ninja, and Cherry Crystal's
Wow I have to say that I am quite confused by what seems to have happened here. It is certainly possible that a large scale removal and/or trimming of plants can effect the cycle of the main tank. Adding the moss to the shrimp tank should not have increased the nitrates unless there was alot of dead...

Re: Crystal Red Shrimp Farm
Excellent question.
I am awaiting a shipment of more CRS and then I will be separating them into grades. I want to have a tank with a good breeding group with the best colour, 2 grow outs and a tank for low quality, who be fattened up and fed to my puffers.

Re: CPO Breeding Diary
Thanks
No it is a different tank from the deaths. The heater was ancient so I replaced it. Unfortunately there are days that I only sleep at my place so I don't monitor things as closely as I should.
Ahhh, the joys of animal husbandry.LOL

Re: CPO Breeding Diary
Bad heater caused the temp in Tank #1 to go to 90' The heat also caused serious evap and dropped the water level below my sponge filter output. All babies dead. Moved male from tank #4 into Tank #3 with female to try for a new batch. I have another pair coming in from a different source this week. I...
