Re: Copper question? And is this a good diet?
The Ingredients you have listed tells me that this is a low quality food. I personally don't feed foods that contain (meals). For example: look for foods that list (whole) fish and (fresh) kelp. Not fish (meal) and kelp (meal). Most of the fish foods that I've looked at contain a lot of different me...

Re: Bumble Bees on AB
I have seen this sellers auctions. In their description they state that the shrimp are "HEALTHY, FEEDING ON DEAD FISH AND FLAKE". They write in all caps. After reading this it makes me wonder. What kind of terrible water conditions are these shrimp kept in? It doesn't take long for dead fi...

Little worms and flying insects in my tank
I have little worms in my tank. Their white and burrow in the brown alge on the side of the tank. You can see dark brown lines in the brown alge which is their burrow. They stay in their burrow and stick their head out to feed. If their spoked they quick pull their head into their burrow. Some are w...

Re: brown leaves for shrimp
I keep my soak pail in front of the window so the leaves have direct sun light when soaking. The articals and posts that I read (when I first found this forum) said that the shrimp eat the microorganisms that grow on the leaves. So I figured that if I soaked the leaves in front of the window the mic...

Re: brown leaves for shrimp
Oak leaves will give you slime if you soak them for a month or two. I have observed an Oak leaf form holes, decompose into a skeleton and disappear in the soak pail I have sitting in front of a south window. It had to be the bacteria and micro-creatures that ate the leaf since there was nothing in t...

Feeding shrimp
Should shrimp be given any extra food if their in a mature tank with lots of algea and biofilm? Two of my tanks have a 75 watt fluorescent light on all day and one gets natural sunlight through the window for a part of the day. These are shrimp only tanks with no plants. I'm giving them all this lig...

Ghost shrimp go through a larvae stage that need to be fed micro-food items before they molt into adult form.

Re: EcoSphere Disaster
Don't worry about feeding them now wait until you get a proper home set up for them. They won't starve. Shrimp eat very little so your efforts to feed them will most likely pollute the water. Hawaiian Red Shrimp can live in fresh water but they do best in brackish. Be sure to use sea salt, not table...

Water filteration systems
My tap water has a lot of chemicals and junk added to it to make it "safe" to drink. Although Cherry shrimp can live in it (treated with prime) they didn't produce well. I had been thinking about getting an R/O unit but I don't think that I need water "that pure". I've read that ...

Re: Hi I’m new, with water filter questions
My water filter isn't a "fancy charcoal filter" like the Brita. My counter top water filter is a five stage filter. 1. Stage (Mechanical filtration) #316 stainless steel screens. Prevents channelling, removes sediments without clogging. #316 stainless is the highest grade stainless mesh av...

Re: Quick Cherry Shrimp Question
Most of my female chrerry shrimp are nice and red. A couple of them are almost super red. But I have one female with saddle that is just as clear and colorless as the males. Could this colorless female be the wild Neocaridina denticulata sinensis? The person that I got my cherry shrimp from said tha...

Re: Hi I’m new, with water filter questions
I usually use 50% old tank water when setting up a new aquarium. Although I wasn't planning on it this time because I was going to experament with the "water filter" water. I've been taking my time setting up the aquarium and only have it half full with "water filter" water. I'll...
