the LFS here in town actually just brought in a group of 3 Electric Blue Lobsters, and although they do look like the picture posted the color is much more impressive in person, various shades of metallic blue, awsome looking. Ecir Your electric blue "lobsters" are most likely Procambarus...

 Thanks for the link. It does seem to be a color variation of a cherry, or, at the very least, a similar species. Hopefully they will hit the US hobby soon, but I won't hold my breath. The shrimp I would really like to see would be a S grade green crystal shrimp with the same colors as a gree...

I thought the non-red gene was recessive. Non the less, I was just wondering if this could occur in other species, like albinism does. Though, I don't believe albinism occur in invertebrates, so it may be moot anyways.

Yellow shrimp

Hi, I saw a topic with this same subject which was closed, I suppose because the author was inquiring about purchasing, but I would like to know more about them. "yellow" is not very specific when starting a search. I have heard that yellow betas are really red betas that lack the red. Are...

The peat will be mixed with a lower layer of substrate with a top layer above it, so it shouldn't leach into the water too much. It's just to get some carbon in an oxygen poor part of the system so it can be used for the terminal electron accepter instead of oxygen. I forgot to ask about texture. I'...

Sorry, I should not have used the common name only  , especially because some people call it a sand shrimp. I was referring to Macrobrachium cf. mirabile.

Another question I forgot to ask is do they like some salt added to the water? If so how much and would they coexist with bumble bee gobies?

Pearl shrimp with aragonite?

Hi, I work at a pet store and while going through one of the whole-salers stock list I saw pearl shrimp for 1.50 and just had to order some, 10 to be exact. I currently have a six gal with about a 2.5 sump set up for a saltwater mantis. To help with nitrates, I will add some peat to the sumps substr...

Sticky Shrimp

Hi, I have a twenty-gallon tank exclusively for shrimp. The bottom tank is lightly covered with a fine sand-like substrate. Plants in the tank include java moss, marimo algae, hornwort, and duckweed. I feed sinking algae tablets every few days. Anyway, it seems that my shrimp sometimes have sticky f...

if you put cucumber in the tank, you should get plenty of blue green algae: the kind that smells like soil. i'm not sure if shrimp care for this or not though, otos don't seem to.
