hi, just wondering if anyone could help me, i've found a few of these guys on the beach and now have them at home in some tuppaware. the question is does anyone know of how to furnish a tank for them, and make them happy? i've trawled all around the internet but all i discovered is scientific text o...

Re: I have leeches- need help!
my suggestion is to move out all your shrimp, strip down that tank completely and consider all your snails dead already. i know this probably isn't what you want to hear but it's the safest thing i can think of. i don't know if the leeches will harm your shrimp but anything you add to the water to ge...

is it bad?
hi, i had a quick question and after searching the forums i found no answer so here we go. last week i purchased online a bulk of snowballs(the shrimp not the ornament!) they arrived today, 56 of them all good quality apart from three of them have red spots on the side of them, i'd say on their chee...

Re: sp.Malaya?
yup all of them look like what i call "dirty" shrimp, it happens all the time when stockers buy loads of varieties and stick them all in the same tanks. normaly i would reccomend staying away from such shrimp but hey all shrimp are cool in thier own way!

Re: General questions about Keeping CPOs
i think that would be awesome, however i also think it would be a lot more hassle than it sounds as most crays, unless given a hell of a lot of space, don't really mingle to well. although i do admire your enthusiasm. as for mingling i'd stick to a few types of shrimp and a variety of crays in the s...

Re: General questions about Keeping CPOs
no probs keeping cherries with cpos here, they're just too quick for them. as for keeping them outside i have no idea about that i guess it depends on the tempreture more than anything so as long as the tempreture doesn't drop too much and you've a deep enough pong without any predators i don't see ...

Re: Halocaridina rubra reproduction question
is they are being hostile to eachother i would up the feeding slightly and try more fresh foods they always seem to stimulate breeding in my tanks, amazing what a peice of cucumber will accomplish.

amano ladies.
hi i just spent some time going though info on amano breeding, but haven't found what i was looking for so here we go. i've just noticed my amano shrimp are now "sexually active" by the whole courtship dance thing they do, however haven't got any eggs yet. although the behaviour of my fema...

Re: is it ok to have the sponge filter as the ONLY filter?
i wouldn't have though mechanical filtration would be a problem with shrimp as they pretty much do it themselves. plus anything that they miss would be devoured buy bacteria in the substrate. this is just my thought any way as most of my tanks are sponge based and i've never had any problems.

Re: Crayfish as snail control?
to my knowledge there isn't any cray variety that is 100% safe although if there is plenty to eat in the tank they shouldn't bother your plants too much. i've kept procambus vasquezae and they seem not to bother the fauna much and from a friend i've heard they love to crunch and much lil snails! hop...
