Today the eggs were gone when I got up. Is there a chance that they made it or hatched? Could an RCS have picked them up? There was a female that seemed to picking at the eggs and guarding them. I have about 12 male shrimp and 3 female shrimp. They were fighting last night and they knocked each othe...

Shrimp Eggs?
I have found some eggs in my tank by the filter that seem to be from my RCS. Thats all I have in the tank but I thought that RCS carry eggs? There is one female that keeps picking at the clump of eggs and chasing the other shrimp away. Some of the shrimp seemed to be a little agressive. Not cichlid ...

If you want to keep the highest grade, your going to need a few tanks. One tank with the best shrimp and another with the secondary shrimp. After each brood of new shrimp you will have to sort out the good ones and the bad ones. Even if you breed very pure shrimp, there is a chance you might get som...

You should keep a lot of that java moss. The new born shrimp really like to hide in it. Set your temperature to 75 or so Keep the nitrates below 10-15 Add dechlorinator when you change the water Break up an algae wafer and add a few pecies each day Make sure your filter is covered so the new born sh...

I have a large male shrimp in with my cherry reds that looks exactly like that (minus the eggs). Could the brownish color just mean its a mature cheryr red? For example, as female cherry reds get older they turn red, so do the males become browner? The shrimp I have that resembles the picture is lar...

Black RCS
I noticed a black baby RCS in my tank today. I have a few females who have been carrying eggs in the past few weeks so there are several babies. But only one shrimp is black in color. All the rest are the regular clear color that most baby shrimp are. The shrimp that is black seems to be acting like...

Feeding RCS, but not snails
I have been feeding my RCS algae pellets that sink to the bottom. They love them, but so do the snails! The snails completely cover the algae wafers so the RCS can't eat them. The RCS get there first, but the snails eventually cut in and kick out most of the RCS. So here are a few questions: 1) How ...

RCS Randonly Dieing
I have bought 20 cherry reds and I have them in a 10 gallon tank alone. There are a few plants in the tank and the nitrates are usually about 10 ppm or less. The highest they have been when I tested them was 20. My ph is about 8.2 since the tap is 8.7. The hardness is high too, but I'm not sure of t...

Ok I see what you guys mean now. I think I have one or two shrimps carrying eggs. Also, was it a typo or did you mean that the females are usually more red? From the srhimp article, it suggested that the males are clear and the females are red. In your post, it said it the other way around: At that ...
