Re: Opae ula not eating spirulina powder after 3 hours of it sitting on the surface?
Don't put any food in there...probably for months. If you see algae growth in there, they have enough to eat. The fact that they don't go for the spirulina means that you are overfeeding and the tank has enough to eat for them.

It really doesn't matter. Just choose what you like!

Re: Lowering Salinity?
Yes, you can lower it that way if you want. Have they been breeding the last two years? If yes, then there's no need to change anything.

Re: Setting up Two Aqueon 5.5 Tanks, hardscaped and filled yesterday, planning to order the shrimps come Spring
Nice looking tanks! However, you made two of the most common mistakes that lead to "sudden and mysterious" shrimp deaths. You put those fan corals and marimo balls in your tank. Do a search on them here in the forum and you'll find more information about why they cause problems. In short, ...

Re: Power Outage :(
Do you know how cold the water got? It's normal for them to sit around and wait when the water is cold...they are fine in the 50s and upper 40s, but shouldn't be kept at those temps over the long term of course.

Re: Brackish Water Snail in RO Water?
You can do it, but you have to acclimate them slowly over a day or two...i.e. put them in a jar with their original water and slowly keep adding the freshwater over several hours or days.

Re: My success story
Today brought a delightful surprise as seven new larvae emerged from the female that bore eggs at the end of last November. Initially, she was carrying approximately 12 eggs. Interestingly, it seems this batch took a bit longer to hatch, likely due to cooler water temperatures. My tank remains unhe...

Re: Orange supershrimp now have 12+ babies/larvae!
Thanks for the update! I'm happy to see the orange larvae floating around, especially since you had only three shrimp left and could have ended up with shrimp that are all the same gender! As for the nitrate in your tank...you must be feeding too much or something is leaching nutrients into your tan...

Re: Is my moss ball dead?
The mossball is not dead. You can squeeze it a little to get the air bubbles out of it and it will go back to the bottom. As for the bits of macroalgae, you can leave them there. They will either slowly decay and the shrimp will eat them or some may even grow again. Your mossball does look like ther...

Re: What am I doing wrong?
You have a sea fan and marimo balls. Those are among the top 3-5 killers of Supershrimp out there. They both rot *very slowly* and cause long term problems instead of immediately killing your shrimp (which they can also do by the way...especially when newly introduced.). Take them out immediately. A...

Re: java moss question
You can't acclimate moss to Supershrimp brackish conditions, not even close. It won't even survive low salinity brackish water. It just dies slowly while staying green for months sometimes and people think it has "acclimated" and go write an article about it and spread misinformation. Trus...
