Re: Bristle Worm, etc...
Thanks for all the info. The fire worm died while I was acclimating it. Who knows if it was old, or unhealthy when I accidentally got it. I would have added it to my aquarium if I knew it would not be a threat or threatened. Alas, it died and my wonderings were empty.

Neon yellow and Sakura red shrimp
I'm thinking of keeping neon yellow cherry shrimp and Sakura red cherry shrimp together. Is this a bad idea? Also, I plan on using my 5 gallon marineland portrait style aquarium. Does anyone know if the filter on this is safe for these shrimp? If not can I just go without a filter? http://www.amazon...

Berried Shrimp
I have two berried shrimp! I have 10 shrimp, 1 nerite snail, 1 dwarf hermit crab, and mustafa's macrolgae. Any suggestions for successful hatchlings?

Re: Bristle Worm, etc...
Well... The bristle worm died. But my shrimp aquarium is doing well. When I have enough moneys more shrimp and macro algae will enter the picture.

I'm sorry this was posted twice. It was not deliberate and I don't know how to undo it.

Bristle Worm, etc...
Today I bought a dwarf blue legged hermit crab for my Hawaiian red shrimp gallon aquarium. I am currently acclimating the crab to brackish water since it was in full salt water when I bought it. It seems to be doing fine. The pet store threw in two "empty" shells for future growth. I perso...

Re: Algae Build Up... Other problems
I attached a photo of my 1 gallon shrimp tank. I wish I took a before and after set so everyone could see the algae from before. You can also see my seed shrimp aquariums, one inside my Hawaiian red shrimp aquarium and one next to it.

Bioluminescent Algae
I just read about bioluminescent algae that thrives in brackish water. I've also learned that bioluminescent algae can be cultured by common folk like myself. This leads me to the question: can I one day have a Hawaiian red shrimp tank with bioluminescent algae?

Re: Algae Build Up... Other problems
How can one nerite snail clean up "tons of algae buildup" so quickly? I don't know. I didn't come up with the idea on my own. Someone here reccomended nerite snails. I added one and within days my 1 gallon aquarium has gone from ugly green and brown glass, coral, etc to crystal clear glas...

Re: Algae Build Up... Other problems
I bought one nerite snail and the algae problem is gone. Once I'm 100% sure about water quality I'm buying more shrimp. In the future I'm going to set up another aquarium with shrimp and mustafa's snails. Everything seems healthy in my aquarium presently.

Re: Algae Build Up... Other problems
All readings are ideal, except for the trace amounts of ammonia. I believe they died this winter for 2 reasons: 1. The temp in my house dropped way too low. 49 degrees. 2. I neglected topping off the tank for too long a period. I will be testing salinity b4 adding anything. I will also make small wa...
