Re: "Planted" supershrimp tank
A little update. The cyanobacteria finally stopped growing after changing its color (and probably species) 3 times. Now I have a little filamentous alga growing everywhere along with the remaining black cyanobacteria. Brown dust, too thin to be diatoms (i'm shortsighted enough to recognise them with...

Re: An alga parasiting (only?) freshwater shrimps
Thanks for the post! So that's what it is...a type of algae. I've never seen any disease or parasite on Supershrimp, though, so I'd be interested in where you actually saw this parasite on them. The freshwater forum has been closed to new posts for months due to the fact that our focus here has bec...

An alga parasiting (only?) freshwater shrimps
Hello. I translated an article from my blog because I think it can interest all shrimp keeper. I post it here for tho reasons. First: I dont know why but I cant post anything in the general shrimp section. Second: I remember a case of Opae Ula with the same parasits so I think it's still supershrimp...

Re: Store bought RO vs Distilled water
All artificially purified water are similar for the aquarist. You have "distilled" (it's not, in grossery stores), RO (petstores), real distilled (labs) or artificial water (hydrazine or hydrogen combustion like in the martian). There is no difference for you BUT, distilled water from the ...

Re: "Planted" supershrimp tank
Yes I can. I had a huge blue-green cyanobacteria bloom followed by a brown-red cyanobacteria bloom, again followed by the comming of millions of tiny forams who eat the cyanobacteria. I think my tank is at the edge of equilibrum and sadly most of my plants/algae died with the first bloom. Pandan: I ...

Re: Mandarine shrimp setup!
This tank was transformed into a regular freshwater thank, then again in a brackish one. No mandarine shrimp ever lived in there because I finally found a french Opae Ula breeder and took him some. Maybe one day I will add some Mandarine shrimp to my thank since some petshops regularly import them.

Re: Q about tank decoration, substrate, and biospira
1. Can shrimp get stuck in cone-shaped seashells? Should I go with the clam-shaped one to avoid them getting stuck? Also, how do I disinfect them? I dont think but you can breack the top or/and drill some holes for better circulation and escaping. If the shell is "dirty", I mean with drie...

Re: Q about Food
Try pellets for plecos or shrimps. Or for guppies since they are really omnivorous.

Or just put the open ecosphere in the new tank, the shrimp will move by itself.

Today Paris is windy. Nothing hurricane alike but each time my window sing I think about the US and the Caraibeans. May you, your friends and your possessions be safe, good luck.

Re: Population density in the wild
BTW remember supershrimp does NOT live in anchialine pools, they only visit them. Their true habitat is the porous lava belt circling each island, they go outside mostly to feed on certain algae and maybe take some sunlight for vitamins.
