Re: Saddled or not?
How would Is it possible i have no males? If you got these shrimp from a local store or from an online seller that imports these shrimp (instead of breeding them), then it's not only likely that you have no males, but highly probable. Most dwarf shrimp imported and sold in stores are females. Findin...

Saddled or not?
I'm
Having issues knowing whether or not this shrimp is saddled. I am pretty sure I see the saddle, but it really doesn't look female. Here's a photo.

I really enjoy the plants that you have in your tanks. I am interested in what the plush plants are, the first one that "sticks" to the rock, you can see it in the second picture of this whole thread, and the second one the one that you have in your second tank that kind of looks like a fe...

Re: Quick question on shrimp ID.
You don't need java moss for the babies, unless you really like the look of moss. The adults do not chase down and eat their young. I know that the shrimp won't eat their young, but I have some fish in the tank too. A few platys and I know its not the best to have fish with the shrimp so I'm planni...

Re: Quick question on shrimp ID.
I went to a local guy and bought 6 red cherries for 25 dollars which I don't know I guess is not too bad. I also realized that one of the more red ones has some little yellow/green balls under it's tail which I'm guessing are eggs. Is there anywhere I can buy some java moss for babies?

Re: Quick question on shrimp ID.
Although it's really hard to tell from that picture I am reasonably sure that you have a form of a red cherry shrimp called "red rili shrimp." It's a female. And, no, it won't interbreed with the crystal red shrimp. Ah. Any placce i can get a little supply of something like red cherries o...

Re: Quick question on shrimp ID.
Thanks for the feedback! :D There is still a lot that needs to be done with this website...lots updating and adding new stuff...and so little time. Anyway, you can tell the sex *for sure* once one of them starts carrying eggs. Until then it's difficult, although not impossible. You need some experi...

Re: Newbie to shrimp
Yes, it's fine. Keep in mind, however, that most snails sold as "trumpet snails" can reproduce explosively if enough food is available. They'll be all over your aquarium before you know it. If this does happen to you, buy some assassin snails. I know they are small and stuff but they wont...
