Re: Trying to make a self-sustaining environment

Plants don't "generate" oxygen. They need co2 which they will run out of when in a sealed bottle. Thus the shrimp will have no oxygen.

Re: Setting up new tank

Research the nitrogen cycle. Once the cycle is complete and you have beneficial bacteria than it is safe to move them.

Re: berried soon possibly?

There you go. :) It happens sooner or later. Mortality depends on what you do with the tank. If you feed the hell out of the tank like one of the forum posters here does, then mortality is going to be relatively high. If not, and you leave the tank alone, pretty much all of them are going to surviv...

Green Water

Does anyone feed their shrimp with green water? I was thinking this would be cool to try out.

So what is the mortality rate on the shrimplets? I really hope they all survive.
Also is it true that it takes around a month for the eggs to detach upside down?

berried soon possibly?

My opae have been saddled for a while now and I just noticed a female that appears much wider than the others and it also looks like she has developed a small "cage" where berried eggs go. Is this a sign she is preparing to drop her eggs down?

Re: The New Supershrimp Owner Experience. (Long post!)

Three of my females are saddled so heavily that if I look at them from the right angle I can actually see that they're packed with eggs. I won't be feeding them until next week, so it'll have to wait until next Thursday for me to figure out if more food will help the macroalgae and maybe stimulate ...

Malnutrition?

I noticed that some of my shrimp have bands of red and rather a clear exoskeleton. Does this indicate anything? Does it mean they may molt it soon or are they missing something in their diets?

Are the white things on the glass moving? If so I have been through a similar situation. They can actually be beneficial.
