opae ula larvae attached to one another
I found these 3 larvae attached to each other on the substrate. They are startled by an adult opae ula. http://youtu.be/DrmvxfMmVJ0

Re: First Berried Shrimp!
That's great. They look to be about maxed out with eggs. Good luck with them!

Re: Opae Ula larvae video clip
Thanks Harry. I wish I could keep it in focus a bit better, but that's about the best I can do with what I have.

Opae Ula larvae video clip
The focus goes in and out a little because I'm doing this all without a tripod, just holding the camera in my hand. Viewed in full screen you can see better detail. http://youtu.be/XG3YKIFYMi4

Thanks Mustafa. Yes, eggs with a shrimp attached must have been about right.

Re: video clip of berried opae ula
Thanks Harry. Yes, she has quite a few. I've been meaning to compliment you on your hermits and the bright shells. They look very nice. Good luck with them.

video clip of berried opae ula
Caught this one close to the front glass so I was able to take a short video of her. http://youtu.be/cX7qjzZZl78

Re: What food do these shrimp really LIKE?
I'm not saying kelp is a main food for them. I think most find that spirulina is eaten well by them, but they don't really need constantly fed. Just let some algae grow.

Re: What food do these shrimp really LIKE?
I feed NLS foods to my fish. I also feed Omega One veggie rounds and a generic algae wafer to my freshwater shrimp. The opae ula seem to prefer the Omega One wafers. It has kelp and spirulina as the first two ingredients. I think they aren't too picky though.

Re: Opae ula feeding
Thank you. The macro lens sure causes any small movement to be exaggerated. It's a bit hard to keep it in focus but I hope it made the short video at least somewhat interesting.

Opae ula feeding videos
This shows a close-up of an opae ula feeding in one of my tanks. This is the first time using my cell phone and a small macro lens. Sorry if it shakes at times and just a little blurry at times. http://youtu.be/D29zJnHlh5w Here is another I'll add showing the shrimp from the front. http://youtu.be/d...
