Is age a factor when shrimps are dying due to bad water? I bought shrimps in the summer and after 3 months the adults are weeding off. At this point, I have more babies than adults. I've read threads here of a massive die-off. I'm worried this might be the case here. So I'm wondering, if babies are ...
how did you reduce phosphate? did you remove the source of the phosphate? Up to around 50 ppm is noticed nothing other than no eggs. Females with eggs added to the tank lost the eggs after a few days. At higher levels the shrimp show loss of color and seem very tired. I was using a phosphate based b...
I recently started a tank for cherry shrimps. The parameters are all fine and it's been running for almost 5 months. Problem is I can't seem to find any shrimps developing saddles. I followed Mustafa's way of filling the ground with oak leaves and feeding them once a week. I'm confused why my RCS ar...
Just last saturday I went to my LFS to pick up a jager because my tronic stopped working. So I installed this heater thinking it is reliable and it was pretty stable for the first 12 hours of the day. But when I got home my tank was a boiling 32C(90F). I'm infuriated at the moment but I would also l...
thanks for the suggestion badflash. i was also considering buying an american flagfish just for the sole destruction of hair algae...man i hate hair algae so much
I posted earlier about having java moss pulling out eggs but really was hair algae. now i'm sick of the hair algae and want to get rid of it meaning i'll have to take the java moss up. question is, the java moss accounts for about 2/5 of the tank and if i take it out i will only have java fern and s...
i believe its the co2 mixed w/ your water change. i used to have a diy co2 and lets just say the bubbles is very unpredictable. sometimes there are lots of bubbles other times it pauses. that could very cause a pH swing overnight when o2 levels are low also.
from what i read in the forum i think your pH is optimal for cherries
could the 20% water change lower the pH? i know the pH in bc tap water is 6.8ish...and the water change could have severely affected your pH
I noticed that I have more females than males. Is this because males have a shorter lifespan? I would think that from all the galloping during mating time that they could wear out faster.
ok upon close inspection, i've noticed some hair algae that may be the culprit since its so fine and has a sticking ability in its own right....i cant seem to get the bloody damn thing off w/o tearing out my java moss. any suggestions? if i want to remove the algae then im going to have to pretty mu...
