If you HAVE to have some kind of a fish in there then I would go with something colorful. Endler's Livebearers would be my pick.

to be honest, I would go to the LFS and get some ghost shrimp. They are usually really cheap. With the extra shrimp you are breeding you could try selling them on aquabid or lots of other sites. just my 2 cents. But do what you want, this is America after all.

I am thinking of getting some of the Cambarellus shufeldtii for my 55 gallon shrimpo tank. It is heavily planted with mainly rooted plants to keep down on the pruning. There are a lot of pieces of drift wood covered in java moss with natural caves plus some decorations with caves in them. Do you thi...

I have someone that is going to sell me about two dozen cherry reds in a few weeks after i get it set up and c...

new ghost shrimp

About a month ago i added a few Ghost shrimp to my shrimp tank to help clean it up. One of the shrimp was carrying eggs. Well over the next few weeks they started dying off until i was left with one. I figured it was a male since I hadn't seen the female in a long time. Well after a water change the...

i had a very large mystery snail die, I have no idea how long it was dead before I noticed that most all of my shrimp were dead or dying in one corner. The ammonia spike from the very large rotting snail did them in. I was able to "save" 2 cherries out of nearly 100 and they were only a fe...

Two photo periods

To keep the CO2 build-up down so it doesn't affect PH I have thought about having the lights come one twice durring the day. Instead of 12 hours on and 12 off for the lights I was thinking of doing a 6 hour cycle. This way the plants still have lights for 12 hours of the day but there is only a 6 ho...

The breeder net i had put all the ones that looked to be twiching had a few pull through over night as well. SO all in all it looks like i lost about 80%. Looks li...
