does it stand to reason the planaria help to alleviate excess nutrients in ways similar to other microorganisms, organisms and flora in a fishtank? the more the merrier. biodiversity is how to create a working ecosystem. planaria are harmless and lead an interesting life. surely they serve a purpose...

the water change thing is hard to call. trace copper? or oldage shrimp? as far as the worms are concerned they're likely just planaria. i mean, i wouldnt eat em but i dont mind them in my shrimp tank. you'd prolly have to put some kind of gravel rooting bottom feeder in there to work on the worms......

my 10 g. cherry only tank has more shrimp than i can count. somewhere in the 50 to 100 range. they are doing well. every once in a while i take some out and put them in one of my other tanks. i go for the midsize ones. not quite to breeding size and not so small they are an automatic snack. my macro...
