Re: Instant Ocean Salt Residue-Should I be concerned?
It all dissolved, and everyone is doing great :D Thats great news, i was worried about mine and looked around and apparently there is more minerals in it which takes longer to dissolve. Was your salt lumpy from liquid drawn in like mine? It had lumps, like big rocks.... But the salt was quite new, ...

Re: My Opae Ula Tank Introduction
On another note, Why is it so hard for me to grow algae? I dont see any algae growing and i have the light on 14+ hours. I wish i had the tank setup near sunlight. Does anyone know how to grow real live spirulina? i think your prodibio biodigest supplement may be delaying the growth of your algae.

Re: Water quality and additives.
I have to remineralise my fresh water shrimp tanks water because I live in am area where my tap water is super soft, like 60TDS and I had moulting issues.
Edit : I don't use calcium carbonate blocks as I have ocean rock in my tank, pH sits at around 8.2 - 8.4 constantly.

Water quality and additives.
Now I know everyone has their own opinions for the water in the opae ula tank, be it weekly, monthly or yearly water changes... But one thing I wanted to ask was, do any of you keepers remineralise your RO/distilled water before adding it to your tank?

Re: My Opae Ula arrived!
they have had roughly 24hours in my tank now and they have not stopped eating off my ocean rock, they have left a white dust line all the way around the rock on my black sand where they have picked stuff up and dropped it after taking what is edible from it.

Re: Instant Ocean Salt Residue-Should I be concerned?
I had the same thing with my instant ocean, I added mine to the tank directly as there were no shrimps in it yet, and I too got some white powder on my sand, I just mixed a stick in the sand for a few seconds and the sediment vanished, I wouldn't be worried, a lot of people mix their instant ocean a...
