Re: My Opae Ula Tank Introduction
Nice tank! Concerning your decision to replace the larger filter with a smaller one, with Opae Ula, it's actually best not to have any filter at all. With these particular species of shrimp, not only is it not necessary regarding keeping the water chemistry healthy, but they also prefer completely ...

Re: Need help to identify this shrimp
i have kept these wood/bamboo shrimp before and they must have perch/ledges to sit up high in the water streams to catch their food. If they are on the gravel scraping food it is a bad sign as they will damage their fans.
if you need any more info just ask.

they are all crawling around eating from the rocks and sand, they seem to pick up a grain of sand and carry it around with them lol, very strange when comparing to my fresh water shrimp.

My Opae Ula arrived!
Wow these guys are a real treat to have I have them in a cup with their water they came in.
I hope they all survive the transfer in. My tank has been ageing for around 7 months so it should all be good photos to follow.

Re: Does the water in am opae ula tank not turn stagnant?
have 50 litres of fresh RO ready for tomorrow to top my tank up
RO water is more exspensive over here in the UK i pay £2.50 for 25 uk litres of the stuff, but part of the reason for the Opae Ula tank is very low water changes

Re: Does the water in am opae ula tank not turn stagnant?

I tested the water i my tank after cleaning all the algae and scum from the tank/sand and rocks. I took out 30 litres of water and cleaned the oce...

Re: Does the water in am opae ula tank not turn stagnant?
Yes it's in front of a window but the blind is going to be shut all day from here on out, I have my led lights on a timer. The issue that I had was this tank was maturing nicely and I could access it daily until a sibling needed space to store his belongings and furniture cutting off access to my de...

you will know when your tank is cycled because the test kit will show 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and very very low nitrates.
