How old are these females? Cherries don't live much longer than a year or so, so it could be a natural death. That is why Mustafa and many others sell juvenille shrimp online instead of adults.

It is also good to make sure that the shrimp you are bringing home have plant pieces to hold on to for their journey or they get terribly stressed out.

I would recommend swimming pool filter sand before playsand. The grains of pool filter sand are larger allowing the substrate to breath and not become anaerobic. Also pool filter sand is designed to be inert whereas playsand may or may not be.

Yes, that is helpful information. Though I will admit I could do without the sarcastic tone as if I were an ignorant child. I'm well aware of the diversity of names given to shrimp by hobbyists around the world. I'm also well aware that my camera is less than capable of taking a good picture of a ...

This is the best picture I could get because it hangs out on the sponge filter all day long and it's brown most of the time, though I don't see what a picture has to do with wether or not something is a commonly ...

I have heard of this mutation where they have red stripes. There is also a color variant that has a blue body.

Shri Lanka Shrimp Synonym?

I bought a shrimp at my LFS some while back that they labeled as Burmese Bee shrimp. It was pregnant at the time and carrying green eggs like in your description of the Shri Lanka shrimp. Is it possible that this is another name it is known by? It also changes color from clear to dark brown, to a ...

Thanks for the reply Mustafa. Two of the shrimp that I got are carrying eggs so if I don't have males now, hopefully I will in a couple weeks :)

Green Shrimp living w/ Cherries

I picked up some of the green shrimp today at one of my LFSs and I'm wondering if they would cross breed w/ cherry shrimp if I put them in the same tank. Don't worry...cross breeding is not my intention. I'd like to avoid this of course.

Thanks.
