Re: Halocaridina rubra reproduction question
It looks like you are using live rocks. Just make sure there is no creature living inside the rock that can harm the shrimp. Previously, I bought some live rock for my marine fish tank. There are crabs living in the rocks. These crab came out during the night and feast on my marine fishes. One by On...

Re: a new tank for halocaridina rubra
First, get yourself a weighing scale and a measuring cylinder. You can use aquarium sea salt and bring the salinity to 8 - 10 ppt(part per thousand). To get a 8 ppt salinity, you put 8 gram of salt for every 1000ml of water. To get a 10 ppt salinity, you put 10 gram of salt for every 1000ml of water.

Re: Halocaridina rubra reproduction question
I followed this setup in the picture: http://131.204.120.103/srsantos/gallery/v/Anchialine/album02/DSCN3035.jpg.html The salinity in my tank is 10-15 ppt. You can cover the top of the tank to pevent evaporation loss. No airstone is required. Just turn on the light for 8 - 10 hour a day. You can feed...

Re: New shrimp
1 gram of salt in 1 Litres of water equal to 1 ppt.
Salt water is about 34 ppt.
If you need 50% salinity of salt water, which is 17 ppt,
just add 17 gram of salt in 1 Litre of water.

Re: Halocaridina rubra reproduction question
I had over 100 Halocaridina rubra in a 10 Gallon tank with some Malaya Trumpet Snail (MTS) for years. The shrimp were breeding fine... until yesterday.... I found none left. I did a nitrite test and found the level below 0.9mg /l, which was tolerable. Unfortunately, I did not perform the Amo...

Re: Hello: Berries, saddle or both
The shrimp in your old sphere are Opae Ula, who live in brackish water.
The one in your picture are Red Cherry Shrimp, freshwater.
They are different.

This creature is in my Red Cherry tank. I realised the population grows when the tank aged. I search the internet for a similar image. The closest I can find is Aquatic Sowbug or Isopod. But I can't really tell. This is the best image I got. What do you think it is ? How can I get rid of it ? It doe...

I forgot to mention that there aren't many store selling shrimps. I managed to find 2 - 3 shops selling shrimps. There were cherry shrimp, woods shrimp, CRS(out-of-stock), lobster and crayfish. I saw some big local shrimps which I cannot identify. But there were plenty of fishes: Goldfish, guppies, ...
