Here is a very short video clip one of two berried females in the tank. The very pale Opae had just been introduced to the aquarium.

Re: 5th Opae Ula Aquarium—finally cycled!
I’ve been keeping and breeding these shrimp for more than a decade, yet I am still ecstatic when I spot the first berried female in this new setup.

Re: 5th Opae Ula Aquarium—finally cycled!
Thank you! Like Opae Ula, these beetles are among the easiest office pets.

Re: 5th Opae Ula Aquarium—finally cycled!
Thank you! I moved my beetles home to work on a breeding project, and now the Opae Ula aquarium is looking pretty algified. Just a step in the process though.

Re: 5th Opae Ula Aquarium—finally cycled!
I would love to show the beetle vivarium, but I don’t think I am allowed to on this forum, am I?

Re: 5th Opae Ula Aquarium—finally cycled!
It certainly looks much bigger than 5 gallon! Yeah that is pretty fast, did it get a lot of light? Hopefully you got some shrimp assigned for transfer from your other tanks haha. I found some 4-6” lava rocks that worked out pretty well, they give the illusion of a larger tank. I was fortuna...

Re: 5th Opae Ula Aquarium—finally cycled!
Thank you! That is indeed algae on the glass...Fortunately it cycled pretty quickly! I set up the tank on 3/11/19, and the algae appeared overnight between the 3/28/19 and 3/29/19. I’m sure it helps that I took the moss ball and macroalgae out of one of my thoroughly established tanks, where I had b...

So far, nothing but a mini moss ball and Mustafa’s Macroalgae in there. I’d have been wanting to add some ...

Re: Question about sudden increase in activity
I have seen this in my tanks too...sometimes attributable to making a change in the aquarium, (such as moving some lava rock) but other times, I don’t do anything at all, and the shrimp act like they’ve all had on of those crazy energy drinks!

Re: Tank Trois!
Nice hardscape...beautiful setup all around, really! I am setting up my 5th tank, just added the substrate (black sand/fine gravel with aragonite), Mustafa’s macroalgae, and one of my mini moss balls today. Now comes the waiting!

Re: Happy Monday
Love that mossball pic! Congrats! I got one about 4(?) years ago now, it has produced quite a few buds, the largest appears to be about 1/4 the size of a mature mossball.

Re: Suddenly cloudy after all these years
True! The reason may remain unclear indefinitely, but the tank itself should clear up with time. The shrimp are doing great as always!
