Re: Algae in shrimp bowl?

It's been 2 years since I first posted. All the shrimps are doing well and there's many more of them now. Thanks for all the FAQ, instructions and the support from the forums.

Re: Endangered list

Nevermind, found more info. It's another species I think: "The shrimp, Vetericaris chaceorum, is known to occur in only five anchialine pools along the coasts of South Kona and Ka`u, the US Fish and Wildlife Service said today." http://bigislandnow.com/2013/10/29/fifteen-big-island-species...

Endangered list

Hi, I just read on PBS news that a couple of Hawaiian species got added to the endangered species list. One of them was listed as anchialine pool shrimp. I think that is our supershrimps. Does anyone know, as owners of something on the list, is there anything we need to be aware of? If I'm mistaken,...

Floating shrimp egg

Hi, As I was taking photos of my berried female, I noticed two shrimp eggs free floating in the water. One wasn't moving and one was popcorning around. The berried female has over 10 eggs that she is carrying, are those two free floating eggs, the ones that she dropped (maybe because I fed them/phot...

Re: Feeding one pipipi snail

Thank you! I'm sorry, I'm back with questions. My snail has been growing bigger, but I noticed that she has markings on her shell that sort of look like stretch marks. These marks are mostly near her antennae and perimeter of her shell where she's grown the most, the center of her shell doesn't have...

Re: Algae in shrimp bowl?

Hi folks, I received the 10 shrimps just now in the mail. I submerged the bag in the tank and cut open a hole for the shrimps to swim out. They are exploring now. My next question is, if they die, do they float or do they sink? I'm hoping they will do fine, however I am paranoid and I haven't seen o...

Re: Algae in shrimp bowl?

Thank you Varanus. So relieved to hear. Glad I'm not torturing my shrimps and putting newcomers in potential danger.

Yes, the water and the fishbowl are very clear. The lone snail does a really good job.

Algae in shrimp bowl?

Hi, My 3 shrimps have been living in this current fishbowl setup for ~1 year now, prior to that they had lived in a flower vase since 2011 (ecosphere rescues). Last year I purchased macroalgae in preparation of moving the three of them from the vase to the fishbowl. The macroalgae has sort of spread...

Re: Feeding one pipipi snail

My lone snail is still doing well and growing bigger, so you are definitely right, it must be eating something that's not visible to my eye haha. I have a new question now about algae growth in my tank, I will make a new post.
