I wonder if the filter can be removed entirely.....

Does anyone know if the light in this setup would be adequate? also, does anyone own this particular tank? If so, is the filter cord separate from the light unit? (so I can remove it altogether)

Yay! That's what I'll do then. My LFS also sells aragonite sand by the pound (which is usually about 2 cups worth). I think that may be enough. I'm also leaning toward just getting a little tank (maybe 2-3 gallons) that comes with the LED light in the hood. As for it getting fairly warm in the house...

I actually have some brand new pieces of artificial LR (http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-reef-saver-dry-aquarium-live-rock.html#tab-full-details ) that's made of calcium carbonate, so I think I'll use those - that'll take care of the buffer, too! Still trying to do as muc...

obviously I'd like to keep the shrimp in a healthier environment. I've been reading through the forum, but had a few questions. What bowl (1.5-2 gallons or so) would you recommend? One that has an LED light included - or maybe an LED kit that is easy & and works well with the aforementioned bowl...
