Re: Sick shrimp?

Molting will definitely get rid of it ^^

If it's swimming and grazing as usual, there's nothing to worry about.

Re: Moving

Hi williamhhmclean! :smt006 We all have to move somewhere someday and I too am interested to know how to move them safely :-D My initial thoughts was to just remove a majority of the water in the tank to maybe about a quarter full (water transferred to large bottles) and then carry everything over t...

Re: Iwagumi Low Profile Opaeula Tank Setup

Omg I've been away for far too long. :smt005 My tanks are going great! As of now, there might be around 144 new "members" since August last year! Yes... I keep track of the newborns haha! I think there are 2 berried right now at this moment. They're #14 and #15 berried shrimp since initial...

Re: First Aquarium!

The green stuff on the rock, if you zoom in to the picture I attached above looks to be "hair-like" but then again I think everything growing in the tank appears to be hair-like, including the moss ball and macroalgae. Sorry I meant, *long* hair-like strands a.k.a Angel Hair Algae. Shrimp...

Re: Dwarf Hermit Crab

Great, thanks. My understanding is that this species is a tide pool dweller sometimes dealing with moments of dry land exposure during tidal shifts. I wasn't sure if it was a necessary element that they may need. Yup you're right. Successful breeding of these hermit crabs might have something to do...

Re: First Aquarium!

Nothing to be concerned of from what I see. I have a tank that has dead coral/rock with algae growth on it.
The green adds color to the tank I feel :-D and it'll act as a food source for the shrimps.
If it's hair-like then you need to remove it, brush it and sun dry.

Re: First Aquarium!

Welcome to the hobby! :-D
Would it be fine to add the water, substrate, algae that is in my ecosphere that they live in now? (once the environment is stable enough for the shrimp, that is)
Yes it'll be fine to add them.

Re: To Cover or Not to Cover

It's a good idea to cover your tank as it is filterless.
You won't want to see dust or fur (if you have a pet cat/dog) on the water surface and floating around in the water .

Welcome to the hobby! :-D

Re: New to super shrimp.

If you like black substrates, I recommend using black aragonite sand/gravel. They're not too coarse, not too fine. The substrate makes Opaeula colors pop out more. I personally use them and it's great!

Re: Opae ulas passive in new tank! HELP!!!

Molting of the exoskeleton is a common thing for shrimps, no worries! Usually means they're comfortable and growing up.

Here's the 6th berried shrimp!
6th berried shrimp
6th berried shrimp
If I'm right about the same 2 shrimps taking turns being berried, I noticed this one is always in the open, while the other is unseen most of the time.
