Re: Ecosphere Empathy

https://i.imgur.com/NYvDlw7t.jpg https://i.imgur.com/NYvDlw7.jpg UPDATE 3 berried females so far this summer. For some reason only 2 of my 10 snails survived so I ordered 10 more and some orange supershrimp! Looks like the existing snails are having trouble keeping the algae down in the substrate. ...

Re: Opening an Ecosphere

I also like the color variation! I have one shrimp that has a clear ring of color between the red. Coincidentally she is berried right now. I’m hoping she will give me candy cane super shrimp!

Re: Opening an Ecosphere

I think they would be settled within a day but I’m no expert. Their food source is actually biofilm and the little critters that grow everywhere in your tank. I believe the algae is just for looks and maybe helps a bit with water parameters

Re: Opening an Ecosphere

I used an x-acto knife (narrow knife blade) which worked pretty good. I wouldn’t worry about it exploding never heard of such a thing. Once the seals off just hold it in the the tank till the shrimp swim out is my advice. Also don’t use the hair algae that comes in those things in the new tank.

Right you are! After much stressing on my part I came home to a berried female!!! My first ever! Only took me several years

A6689682-9ED8-4FE9-A8A6-99A7784C3AA9.jpeg In need of advice from you supershrimp experts. Above is the tank now. There is quite a bit more algae and the macroalgae has definitely grown some. Since shrimp have been in the tank so long and there hasn’t been a single berried female (not to mention wha...

Re: Ecosphere Empathy

Did the rest of your shrimp survive? Yes I count 7 or 8 shrimp and have seen 2 snails simultaneously. I still haven’t added any food since there is plenty of visible algae. Actually the algae is kinda taking over. Still no berried females. My wife wanted to get some more shrimp but I’m afraid of ad...

Re: Ecosphere Empathy

Sad news my friends. I seem to have lost most of my shrimp over the last few months. I can only count 6 shrimp and 2 snails left in the tank. I don’t know how I lost the rest of the shrimp. I never saw any in distress or any bodies. The tank has been covered and I haven’t been feeding. Last weekend ...

I used distilled water. Half salt concentration. Boiled everything before adding to the tank. Cycled it. Added snails and macroalgae. Haven’t fed in months. They aren’t getting vibrated or anything. I’m at a loss

Re: Ecosphere Empathy

I would love to feed again! However, I was under the impression that visible brown algae means there is already too much food?

Re: Ecosphere Empathy

Thanks for the responses guys. Thought I’d give another update. The tank seems sad. There isn’t much activity, it’s hard to count more than 3 or 4 shrimp at a time, there are no berried females, the macro algae looks the same size, and there are lots of empty snail shells on the substrate surface :c...

Re: Ecosphere Empathy

The white stripe could be a bad sign. I know that on Cherry shrimp it can indicate a difficulty with molting. Hopefully that is not the case here. I hope not! I haven’t seen any molts in months. How's your tank doing now? If things haven't changed much, then how about trying to stop feeding...

Other than feeding every 6 weeks +/- and opening the lid for a few seconds every other day I have left the tank alone. The tank receives indi...

Amazing! I’ve always wanted to feed those gross arachnids to my shrimpers
