Re: My Supershrimp Journal
It's been a couple years since I started the black rock tank. I struggled with hair algae before, so didn't feed this tank until last year -- a rice-grain sized flake, 2x in the last couple months. This week I saw a baby floater. This is the first one I've seen in this new tank with minimal feeding ...

Re: Mossball and macroalgae help
It was slower to grow back after pulling some of it out, but didn’t improve much. When I started my 3rd tank, I started pulling out some of the black aquarium gravel in my first tank with the hair algae problem, I noticed how much muck there was under the gravel. I ended up transferring all the shri...

Re: My Supershrimp Journal
The shrimp have been in their new home for a couple days and doing well. It’ll take me a while to take out all the gravel from the old tank with a tweezer and get the last few tiny ones that hid in the gravel. 85E7B235-40C8-45D3-A0EC-8E0D11A03173.jpeg Dylan, my work tank is actually a half-round. I ...

That Almost Ready picture is amazing! Through your pictures I’m getting to see things that I haven’t seen with my own shrimp. Thank you!

Re: Known safe lava rock?
I’ve been looking for the same thing but didn’t find it. I wanted to glue a bunch together to make a focal piece for my new tank. I ended up just getting a single big chunk at Petco. This was the only place I found black lava rock bigger than gravel. I’ve read that people have gotten it at Home Depo...

Re: My Supershrimp Journal
Started my 3rd tank tonight! It’s my 2nd Mustafa Method tank and took my mossball and a couple pieces of coral from my work tank to help kick start. The countdown begins...

Re: Powder or Pellet Food?
I have tried flake and micro pellet but ended up sticking with the flake because it was easier to feed tiny amounts for my small tank. Also the shape made it easier for more than 1 shrimp to eat at a time.

Thanks for the confirmation. I think I’ll check Petco for some natural black substrate.

Re: Hair Algae Invasion
I have a hair algae problem too and I’m not sure what triggered it. It’s growing on almost all the rocks in my tank and it’s attached so don’t pull out easily. I just try to remove what I can and haven’t fed them for over a year. It’s hasn’t gotten worse in the last month so I’m counting that as pro...

Re: Mossball and macroalgae help
I’ll wait it out and cross my fingers that the mossball is ok, just out of sight. At least I know where I can get another - someday day after I get this hair algae under control.
