Something Jelly Appeared In My Tank

I added some Caulerpa in my tank from a friend of mine. I can only assume this came attached in the polyp stage has probably been in the tank for a long time. This tank is 2 years old & I hadn't added anything till around 6 months ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2N0nKkdO1s IMG_7268.jpg IMG...

It's just an 18" LED light. The lumen output is 468 I think.

New Tank & Algae After 7 Days

So I started a new 10 gallon tank. I took the water from an established tank to jump start the cycle & algae. Added a sponge filter to keep the water circulated. Algae appeared after 7 days. Tank is now 14 days old. Day 1 IMG_6978.jpg Day 7 IMG_7028.jpg Day 10 IMG_7046.jpg IMG_7047.jpg IMG_7051....

Re: 3 Years - No Berried Shrimp - Any Suggestions?

True. Would definitely need to feed to get the tank to produce the algae & more biofilm. If I were to assume there's not much in there. More rocks would maybe help. Just look at the tanks at Auburn University.

Re: 3 Years - No Berried Shrimp - Any Suggestions?

I don't think macroalgae will do anything. To top if off there's really no nutrients in the tank to begin with. Macroalgae may not do too well. I would agree and feeding some freeze dried spirulina.

@Dch48

You don't feel that there's too much protein in the Omega One pellets? Salmon, herring, & shrimp are some of the main ingredients . Especially in tanks without filtration? I know shrimp overall are scavengers.

Re: Heater recs please!

You might want to consider freeze dried spirulina powder. I'm not a fan of the ingredients of the shrimp pellets in the market. Just my 2 cents.

There are a lot f different opinions out there on the best care. This site gives great info as well as the input from this community. I have that macro algae in all of my tanks. It's really the only plant that survives and thrives in brackish. I would keep it in there.
